History Theatre’s production of “Nellie” tells the story of pioneering Minnesota labor activist and civil rights activist Nellie Stone Johnson (1905-2002). The show will run Jan. 26 through Feb. 17 at History Theatre downtown St. Paul.
A Minnesota hero, Johnson’s feisty spirit and drive to succeed made her a political force to be reckoned with on issues of social justice, labor rights and equality.
Renowned playwright Kim Hines tells the remarkable story of a young African-American woman who, faced with discrimination at her job, fought back by organizing workers to form a union, breaking numerous race and gender barriers along way.
Single ticket prices for “Nellie” start at $32, with discounts for seniors, students and groups of 12 or more.
