Organizing Institute plans Minnesota training in June

The AFL-CIO Organizing Institute and the Minnesota AFL-CIO will host a three-day training for union member organizers in St. Paul from June 8 to 10.

Unions and labor federations affiliated with the national AFL-CIO are able to sponsor members to this training, which is designed to equip member activists and member organizers with basic organizing skills necessary to work on internal or external organizing campaigns.

Techniques covered in Organizing Institute trainings include:

• One-on-one communication skills.

• How to move workers to take action.

• Leadership identification and development.

• Basic elements of an internal or external union organizing campaign.

The training will begin June 8, at 10:30 a.m. and end June 10 at noon. The training will be held at the Minnesota State AFL-CIO, 175 Aurora Ave, St. Paul MN 55103.

The fee to sponsor one participant is $125, which includes training materials and meals for the weekend. Participants must be pre-registered for the training with the attached sponsorship form available at Sponsorship forms are due May 12.
