Wyatt Carlson, an apprentice member of St. Paul Pipefitters-Steamfitters Local 455, won first place in the United Association National Apprenticeship Competition in Ann Arbor, Mich., earlier this year.

“Local 455’s officers and members are all proud of Brother Carlson’s accomplishments,” the union said in a statement.

Carlson’s accomplishments also include winning first place in the Minnesota State Pipe Trades competition and winning first place in the Midwest regional competition in Chicago.

After Carlson’s win at the national finals, United Association International Representative Greg Sayles presented the apprentice with a special commemorative ring and a $1,000 check from the Minnesota State Pipe Trades at Local 455’s union meeting.

“These accomplishments are a direct reflection on the world-class training partnership between Local 455 and the St. Paul College,” the union said. “Local 455 is proud of all their highly skilled craftsmen that are produced with this partnership.”
