East African women who load delivery vans delivered a message of their own to the world’s largest internet retailer today.

“We can’t just sit back and let them write history by ruining community newspapers,” Pioneer Press reporter Nick Ferraro said. “We have to write a little bit of history ourselves.”

The industry says it’s in trouble, but job openings in Minnesota restaurants have increased by 200 percent since 2014, when the minimum wage began to climb.

“If this is a family,” one Delta ramp worker said, “it’s the most dysfunctional family I’ve ever been a part of.”

A non-union firm has dangled a cheaper price tag, but Teamsters warn the switch will come at a cost to the vulnerable adults Metro Mobility serves.

Teamsters accuse J.J. Taylor of ignoring their concerns over a new routing system that compels more drivers to deliver heavy kegs on their own.

Paycheck deception would “make it harder for working people to join together in common purpose,” Minnesota AFL-CIO Secretary-Treasurer Julie Blaha said.

“It was basically a slap in the face to us, that we don’t mean anything,” special-ed para Melanie Custer said.

“Delta uses all their friends and allies to defeat unions,” former baggage handler and longtime union activist Kip Hedges said. “We must do the same to win union representation.”
